My name is Kennard F.A. Dowding,
I was born on 26th March 1933 at 73 Shaftsbury Road, South Hammersmith
(it was renamed Ravens Court Road on 1st July 1938).
I am married to Ceridwen Dowding (nee Edwards), we have been together
since we were 15 & 17. we have three sons. Steven. Peter. and Martin.
My Parents: Frederick Edwin Dowding, born 21st October 1908, died 9th
May 1984 and Gertrude Jane Dowding (nee Chamberlain), born 9th March 1910
and is still alive.
I have been researching our family histories since I had to retire from
the Ford Motor Co. in December 1992 because of M.S. which I have
had since 1974, my father also having suffered with it.
As a child, my grandmother Gertrude Chamberlain (nee Ward), would tell
us about the Wards, Deane's, Chamberlains and the Italian side, the Leveria
family. Jane Leveria was her mother, who I can just remember, and so,
on retirement I wanted something to do, and decided to sort it out once
and for all. Once you've started you just can't stop!!! It's been quite
a task, but I have found a great many relations who have given me a lot
of help and encouragement.
My friend Peter Cardew has also been researching his family history for
the past few years, and his family details can be found on this
website along with his e-mail address.
Together we have done most of the research for the Births, Marriages &
Deaths at the Ilford Library, Ilford. Essex. where all the information
is available on Microfiche. We have also been up to the London Record
Centre but that has only happened a few times.
My brother-in-law Cecil Edwards, who, since updating this website has
unfortunately passed away, had been researching the parish archives up
in Holywell, North Wales for the Edwards side of the family tree, which
can also be found on this site along with his Granddaughter Ceri's e-mail
address as she has agreed to carry-on the Edwards family research.
As you can see, on the left-hand side of the page are the links to the
7 family trees that myself, Cess & Peter have been working on.
I do hope this site is of some interest and help to people, as I did not
want all these years of work to be for nothing.
NB.
This information is free-to-view, also any information regarding these
families would be most helpful as there is still a lot of information
I do not have.
Thank
you.
